Do you ever have one of those mornings where you wake up and would rather be somewhere else? That's the kind of morning that I'm having. It's not that anything is truly wrong, it's just a general sense of wanderlust that I can't seem to kick. I'm a creature of habit and am happily settled into my little life, but every 6 months or so, I want out. I want to get on a plane, take a break from Colorado and immerse myself in new scenery.
If I could throw together a suitcase, grab my book and purse and hop a flight this morning I'd like to find myself:
- drinking Penfolds cabernet sauvignon and laughing with Jamie, Nick and Andy in Bathurst, Australia.
- in Cambridge, MA...browsing through the used bookshelves at the Harvard Bookstore with a soy latte in hand.
- Eating a pretzel the size of my head while wandering through old town Heidelberg, Germany.
- Bicycling from winery to winery in Napa Valley (there's sunshine and a sundress in my fantasy).
- in Paris with my Mom. I want to eat pastries at a little cafe, get lost wandering around the city and see my Mom's reaction to viewing the city from the top of the Eiffel Tower. I want to fight the crowds to see the Mona Lisa and then show my Mom my favorite Degases at the Musee d'Orsay. And, I want to be there when she's dazzled by Versailles.
- bundled up against the snow flurries in Vail, CO with Jamie. We'd window-shop, take too many pictures and gorge ourselves on spaetzle.
- strolling through downtown Providence, RI, eventually ending up at Amy's Cafe where I could sit at the little table by the window, reading and people-watching while enjoying a grilled cheese with tomatoes, sweet potato fries and a mug of coffee that never seems to empty.

There's nothing wrong with a little wanderlust...
Where would you all like to be right now?
Wow, I would like to be in any of those scenarios, they all sounded pretty amazing! But I would add Mexico to the list, tanning on the beach with margarita in hand. :)
ReplyDeletethese all sound amazing! with the frigid temps and having to get ready for superbowl sunday at our house (ugh), i would like to be on a secluded tropical beach, watching my sons reaction as his toes feel the ocean for the first time. =)
ReplyDeletePretty much all those places with you, because I think no matter where we go together, we'd enjoy 100% the same things :)
ReplyDeleteBut for real, waking up in a beautiful Victorian home tucked into the valley of Aspen, with the brightest sunshine peaking through the windows burried in the perfect amount of snow, sipping coffee with three lovely ladies hanging around in our jammies, is pretty fantastical :) (don't you worry, I'll show you pictures!)
*sigh* Paris really was something, wasn't it? We'll have our mini-adventure at Celestial Seasonings in a few weeks! And I am looking to hit up the Tattered Cover here in Denver really soon, very much looking forward to an afternoon of lazily perusing the thousands upon thousands of previously loved books :)
ReplyDeleteohhh, great visuals! I would rather be anywhere Right now. Somewhere warm and sunny. The sun part is essential.
ReplyDeleteI would love to be wearing a sundress in a park some where. Or laying out at the beach with a book in my hands... Anywhere other than rainy cold GA.
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect day for this... I am SICK of winter! I would LOVE all of your stops and add "touring Tuscany with friends who would love to stop at every little spot"...
