On my June bookshelf

I realize July is nearly over, but I hadn't yet posted my June reads, so I figured I'd hop to it before I lost another month to this speedy summer I seem to be having!

I traveled to Michigan with my Mom at the beginning of June, and travel almost always leads to extra reading for me thanks to hanging out in airports and not being a plane talker. I also tend to gravitate towards beachy chick lit and Young Adult reads, so don't be fooled into thinking I'm a fast reader...I just have the book tastes of a teenager when the sun is out and the temps are skyrocketing.

ps- Russian Winter was an incredible novel, and was neither beachy nor YA.  I definitely recommend this one to anyone who likes fiction that weaves together characters and stories from their present-day and their relevant past.

I'm ready to get out of my 4 books per month slump!

From what I read in May, I have to tell you that Susanna Kearsley's The Winter Sea was by far my favorite. It was breathtaking; and yes, I know how insanely corny that sounds, but that's just how I roll sometimes. I professed my love for this book when I started reading it (I'm too lazy to link up with the post) and it did not disappoint. Thank goodness I have this one on my Nook because I have a feeling this may be one I re-read bits of every so often.

Now that summer is making itself known here in Northern Colorado, I find myself wanting to spend significant amounts of time reading in the sunshine. But, summertime reading, for me, is different than any other season because I find myself drawn more to chick lit and quick-to-read series (think Sookie Stackhouse and Stephanie Plum series) for whatever reason.
That being said, does anyone have any book recommendations for me?
Please and thank you.

Why yes, I do read even when I travel...

...but to be perfectly honest, I actually thought I would read more than I did while on my trip. I'm usually a horrible sleeper on airplanes and I tend to read for a few hours straight when I'm flying. But, the usual rules didn't seem to apply to my international travel. I read a little on my flight from Denver to LAX; slept basically the entire flight to Sydney; read a fair bit up to Townsville and back to Sydney again; and read a bit here and there while I was in Sydney and Townsville. All of that amounted to an entire book and two-thirds of another. That is usually what I read on a weekend trip to Boston...I take this as a sign of the amazing amounts of fun I was having; clearly too much to give in to my book nerd ways.

Anyway, the few books that I read in April were:

ps- I'm a tad obsessed with Kristan Higgins right now...perfect Spring, chick lit reads!

Remember when I used to make these and post them on here a lot?

I think I'm going to start doing it again because I am still madly in love with these awesome, old school, library catalog cards.

I'm really not a fan of doing book reviews, so it'll be rare for you to see them on here, but I do read a lot, and I would love to share the books I've enjoyed each month with you all. And here's where my "ah-ha!" moment happened: use the catalog card generator as a platform for sharing book titles.
Duh.
So obvious.
